The Purpose of Anesthesia Machine

(1) Definition and significance of anesthesia

    The broad definition of anesthesia is to cause the patient to temporarily lose all or part of the pain sensation. The complete definition is to use any method to make the patient temporarily lose all or part of the consciousness and reflexes, so that the patient can successfully undergo surgical treatment. And the original consciousness and reflexes can be quickly and completely restored after the operation. Anesthesia is divided into general anesthesia and non-general anesthesia. General anesthesia is characterized by brain suppression and complete loss of consciousness. Not only does the patient have no pain, but he also loses fear, tiredness and discomfort, and the patient also has no voluntary or involuntary reflexes. The patient has no control over the operation during the operation. The surgery had no impact. Since the patient is unconscious and unreflexive, the doctor cannot communicate and cooperate with the patient, and it is difficult for the patient to maintain his normal physiological functions, which will bring danger to the patient. General anesthesia methods generally include inhalation anesthesia and injection anesthesia. (2) Use of anesthesia machine

    An anesthesia machine is a device that can provide anesthetic gas and non-anesthetic gas to patients. Most existing anesthesia machines are equipped with liquid anesthetic drug evaporation tanks (volatile tanks), which can mix, supply or use several gases (oxygen, laughing gas, air). The evaporator can convert liquid anesthetic drugs into vapor mixed with oxygen, and then supplied to the patient with the gas. The anesthetic mixture inhaled by the patient passes through the upper breathing tube, glottis, trachea, bronchi, and alveoli and then enters the blood, achieving the effect of general anesthesia. Nowadays, most general anesthesia uses laughing gas, ammonia, amoflurane and other anesthetic gases and drugs as anesthesia. Different drugs and dosages are selected according to different patients and different depths of anesthesia, and other drugs and options are used in combination. Different anesthesia methods are used to create compound anesthesia.


    Since most anesthetics themselves have varying degrees of respiratory depression and blood pressure raising and lowering effects, and anesthesia complications and accidents are prone to occur during the anesthesia process, even if an anesthesia machine is not used to supply drugs to patients, the respiratory function of an anesthesia machine is often used. The device is used to assist and control the patient's breathing and monitor the patient's vital index. An excellent anesthesia machine can reduce side effects caused by drugs and accidents caused by device failure, and can detect accidents in time by monitoring the patient's breathing and physiological status.
