Common Injuries and Prevention during High-frequency Electrocautery
Preventive measures for plate burns
Choose a suitable high-frequency electric knife negative electrode plate, install the negative electrode plate correctly, and ensure that the size and area of the plate are appropriate. Ensure that the effective contact area is greater than 100 centimeters. Infants and children are prohibited from using specialized negative electrode plates for cutting and folding. Clean the skin of the bonding area before pasting the negative electrode board to reduce resistance. At present, a dual circuit negative electrode plate is used, and the conductive foil in the middle of this negative electrode plate is divided into two parts with a gap of about 5 millimeters in the middle. When this negative electrode plate is attached to the skin, the circuit detection system in the high-frequency electric knife will check the quality of the contact area. If the contact area is insufficient or there is a short circuit, the high-frequency electric knife will sound and light an alarm, and the output will stop, providing a guarantee for the use of the high-frequency electric knife. For patients with negative electrode plates, allergies, severe hair loss, and scars, it is recommended to use negative electrode circuit pads as circuit electrodes. The use of circuit pads for high-frequency electric knife surgery has a wider indication. The patient's surgical process is comfortable.
Preventive measures for non polar plate burns
Routine examination of the patient's exposed skin for contact with metals. Pay close attention to changes during surgery, especially when the patient is restless and needs to be re examined when moving. When the patient has metal implants in their body, pay attention to the connection between the surgical site and the negative electrode plate, and avoid the implants. The non surgical site of the patient should be kept dry to prevent the formation of abnormal channels in the negative electrode plate caused by flushing solution, disinfectant, etc., which may cause burns at the non negative electrode plate. During surgery, the high-frequency electric knife handle can be placed in a protective box for the electric knife when not in use, or a treatment towel can be used as a strap around the surgical field of view, specifically as a high-frequency electric knife pen when not in use.
